Once a Victorian, Always a Victorian.

Wednesday, February 16, 2005

A very good morning to all teachers and fellow Victorians. I am here to give my speech on why you should give me your vote to represent you, students of VJC, in the Students’ Council.

Being in the Victoria School Prefectorial Board for the past 2 years has definitely allowed me to improve on my leadership skills. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 years there as a leader, and look forward to spending more time in VJC applying what I have learnt and further developing my leadership skills. It would also be an opportunity for me to pick up new leadership skills and I believe that, in the VJC Students’ Council, I will be able to do so to my fullest potential.

I enjoy organizing and running activities for the school. Nothing beats the sense of achievement you get for accomplishing a task with your team after hours of tedious planning. In Victoria School, I was always volunteering for as many activities that I could handle. Every time the performing arts needed ushers for their concerts I would always choose to help out, even if it means staying till 10 at night. This is just an example of what I am willing to do. I do not mind spending my time to ensure that you will have the greatest time in Victoria. I do not mind spending time after school to work things out. I am willing to go all out for our Victoria.

I love Victoria. I love cheering for Victoria, as a Victorian. It’s what is known as the Victorian Spirit. It’s something that words alone cannot express its true meaning. I hope to be able to help all of you experience that burning passion in you for Victoria, our fine institution for the next 4 years. During the last day of school, my senior, Gary, said, “I will only cry if I know that I have not done my best for Victoria.” In the end, I cried, together with all my fellow prefects leaving for the Integrated Programme. After all, I have only spent half of my 4 years serving VS. Now, in VJC, I hope to continue serving Victoria to my fullest capabilities. If you were to give me your vote, I promise you I will definitely not let you down. Thank you. Nil Sine Labore.

will this work? stay tuned for the next episode of...[insert the title you fancy here]
